Since the adaptive use of Reynolda Village (ca.1916) in 1977 into a shopping experience, the firm of Edwin Bouldin Architect PA has explored the relationship between the built environment and how design creativity can assist in its sustainability. Ed was the chairman and editor for the Architectural Guide Winston-Salem Forsyth County 1769-1977. In 1980, after the fire, he was a member of the team that transformed the Graylyn Manor House into a Conference Center for Wake Forest University. He was a participant in the 1986 Campus Plan for Wake Forest University serving on the Campus Plan Subcommittee of the Capital Planning Committee as the architectural consultant.

The firm of Edwin Bouldin Architect PA has participated in the design of the following buildings on the Wake Forest Campus: Olin Physical Laboratory, Addition to Winston-Hall, Divinity School Addition to Wait Chapel, Alumni Hall, Addition and Renovation to WFDD Radio Station, and Kirby Hall. The North Carolina Chapter of the American Institute of Architects in 1988 awarded Reynolda Village an Award for Excellence in Architecture and in 1992 an Honor Award for the WFDD Radio Station addition and renovation.
