Heather M. Bratland has been a Historic Resources Officer and staff to the Forsyth County Historic Resources Commission since October 2018. In that role, she works with owners of historic properties in Winston-Salem’s West End Historic Overlay District and oversees the Commission’s historic marker program. Prior to moving to North Carolina, Heather served as Vice-Chair of the Linn County (IA) Historic Preservation Commission and worked in non-profit easement stewardship. Heather earned a Master of Architectural History and certificate in historic preservation from the University of Virginia in 2004 and a Bachelor of History from the University of Chicago in 1998. She lives in Winston-Salem with her husband and two daughters.
