Joanna Alimanestianu

Local and Traditional Materials and Methods: A Global Perspective INTBAU USA Session

Joanna Alimanestianu is an architect and urbanist with an international practice based in New York. She has completed noted projects in Europe, South America and the US, including Rue de Laeken, one of the first major urban-scale regeneration projects in Europe using traditional design. She has experience with a wide range of traditional construction systems and materials. She has held teaching appointments at the University of Notre Dame and the St. Luc Ecole d’Architecture in Brussels, Belgium. She has been active in the UN-Habitat process contributing to the recently-adopted New Urban Agenda. She holds a master’s degree in architecture from Princeton University.
