Francis Morrone is an architectural historian and writer, author of eleven books including Guide to New York City Urban Landscapes (W.W. Norton, 2013) and, with Henry Hope Reed, The New York Public Library: The Architecture and Decoration of the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building (W.W. Norton, 2011) as well as several architectural guidebooks to Brooklyn and to Philadelphia. His writings have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, the New Criterion, Humanities, The New York Sun, the Hopkins Review, and many other publications. He is the recipient of the Arthur Ross Award of the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art, the Landmarks Lion Award of the Historic Districts Council, NYU's Excellence in Teaching Award, and was named by Travel and Leisure Magazine “one of the 13 best tour guides in the world.” He has resided in Park Slope, Brooklyn for 37 years.
