Steven was most recently the Manager of Restoration at George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate, Museum & Gardens, where he managed research, restoration and conservation of 29 historic buildings on the Estate. His responsibilities included the development of specifications, selection and management of artisans and contractors, and hands-on supervision of restoration and conservation projects. Steven’s work with historical buildings over the past 15 years has earned him a reputation as a leading expert in the field. He is also an author, teacher and popular lecturer. Steven is an accomplished violinist and is a conservator of antique instruments, on which he frequently performs, concentrating on baroque compositions.
